Way back in the mid-90's Randy was told he could drive a
Race Car. Try to tell him he can't today!
To recall what happened over 10 years ago is not an easy thing.
It's easier to recall what happened a decade ago than it is to get
people to understand how much work, fun, sweat, pain and laughter
is involved in racing.
Some of the team will recall an old beater Malibu with a motor pulled from
a boat. The motor was spent to a point where it was 5 minute epoxy and
JB Weld that was holding it together, but it still fired and the team still
raced it. This is when racing was fun. Just a car and a track
and a bunch of guys having a blast passing people and get passed a few
times too! Then things changed.
Randy got an offer to drive a Hobby Car. This is when it started to
become work. Now there were expectations besides just getting to the
track and having fun. But Randy and the folks around him were ready
for the challange and had fun with it.
Enter Jeff Ezell. Randy had been racing for a few years and Jeff saw
what Randy could do and those two thought it best to build their own
team. They did. For several years they raced in the Sportsman
and the Limited classes. This is when the work started to get a bit
harder and the sweat would flow earlier and dry later. This is when
racing crossed the line from hobby to passion.

A Close Second.
This passion for racing grew into a passion for winning. It took
them to the fourth year, the 2001 season, before Burrows / Ezell Motorsports
was a major contender at nearly every track they went to. So much
work from so many people put them in a great "place" at this
time. Wives
and children were involved in all of this too! If they didn't support
what Randy and the guys did with their regular jobs and what they did with
the car during the evenings and weekends, it never would have happened.
So the package was together with family, friends, jobs, the car, the weekends
at the track, everything... and at the end of the 2001 season they were
ready to celebrate a championship only to find out that they came in second. It
was hard. All that work. "Well, we'll get 'em next year," was
the common thread with everyone.
The next season started but there was something missing. The passion
had gone. The way they ended up second last year hurt. Then
a motor blew. Then
before tempers blew everyone knew it was time to focus on the family. So
everyone took some time off. It was a great time for everyone. To
regroup and remember that racing was / is a hobby.

Today
Enter the 2004 season. The team was now well rested and after looking
at the racing business real hard during their "down time" they saw what
they needed to do. So now we enter the third year in a class where
a lot of people race to make a living. They are here with basically
the same people, just more skilled and seasoned. They are here with
better equipment and vision. They are here with more inner drive
than their 2001 season.
In this class are a lot of people that race to make their mortgage payment. While
Randy and the team aren't concerned about that they now have the same equipment
as those folks. With the addition of the GRT Chassis first raced
in May of 2006, they now have cars that can race on any track. They've
learned enough about the tracks over the years and know enough about the
chassis that they'll be able to determine which car will run better and
where. They have also purchased a trailer and RV earlier
in 2006 and with this they now have the ability to be comfortable when
on the road, and thanks to everyones organizational skills the trailer
is set up perfectly for the team.
With all that's been learned over
the years they now have everything in place... The people, the tools, the
cars, the support network, everything. Randy might be the driver
but the team is what made the 2001 season so great. Now the team
is even better than before so look out you front runners. There's
95 happening and they are Alive.
You have entered Burrows / Ezell Motorsports at just the right time. Now
that you know a bit about where they've been you understand why they
see the checkered flag at the end! By the way... Make sure
you buckle up! Just one of those racin' things.
